About
Hello! My name is Milicent (She/Her).
I’m a Professional Counselor Associate located in Portland, OR.
I decided to pursue counseling as a career after being a client myself in counseling and experiencing first hand how impactful a supportive therapeutic relationship can be. As a client in therapy, I often found myself saying something along the lines of, “Mentally, I know [whatever current life event] is going okay, but emotionally, I still feel [worried/anxious/etc.]”. Over time, I eventually found somatic therapy which helped me to bridge the gap I often felt between mind and body, and it sparked my interest in helping others do this type of work.
In 2024, I started my education in Clinical Mental Health Counseling through the University of the Cumberlands. And the following year, I started a two-year comprehensive training in Hakomi, a mindfulness-based, experiential therapy modality which is one of the main modalities I use with clients today. This training further expanded my perspective on the ways in which our bodies and minds are in relationship to one another and how bringing both into the therapeutic setting facilitates self-understanding in an entirely different way than with cognitive processing alone.
I feel deeply honored and grateful to be apart of supporting each of my client’s exploration, healing, and growth.
In my free time, I love to do anything arts and crafts related (ceramics, scrapbooking, watercolor, knitting, you-name-it!) and spend time hiking and enjoying the beautiful nature all around Oregon.
